Tennessee Gas Unveils MPP Pipeline Project
1 min readFrom Potter County Today
Tennessee Gas Pipeline Company has announced plans for a second major natural gas distribution system upgrade in the region. The “MPP Project” will expand its transportation capacity by approximately 240,000 dekatherms per day. MPP comes on the heels of the new 300 Line system and includes installation of an approximately 7.9-mile, 30-inch diameter steel pipe loop (an additional pipe installed adjacent, or near to, an existing pipeline) on Tennessee’s 300 Line in Potter County. Also planned are modifications and upgrades at four compressor stations on Tennessee’s 300 Line, located in Potter, McKean, Venango and Mercer counties.
Negotiations are underway with landowners for any easement rights or temporary workspace that may be needed. Tennessee is requesting FERC approval of the project in the third quarter of 2012. Construction is anticipated to occur primarily in summer 2013, with tree clearing occurring in the fall of 2012. The anticipated in-service date for the MPP Project is Nov. 1, 2013. Copies of the project plan are available at public libraries in Coudersport, Mt. Jewett, Oil City and Mercer.
