Single Vehicle Crash on 03/02/2012
1 min readTrooper Chad E. Savannah of the Pennsylvania State Police responded to a single vehicle crash on Grom Hill Road (T326), in Eulalia Township, Potter County, PA at approximately 6:48 p.m. on March 2nd, 2012. He reports that Richard Mondak of Hermitage, PA had been travelling north along Grom Hill Road in his Honda Odyssey when he encountered extremely icy conditions. Mr. Mondak is not from this area and didn’t know that this portion of Grom Hill Road receives no winter maintenance. He had nearly brought his vehicle to a stop when he lost control on an extremely steep descent. His vehicle continued down the hill and went off the east side of the road, striking a tree with the passenger side. Mr. Mondak was able to exit his vehicle on his own and was not injured. He was wearing his seatbelt during the crash. His vehicle sustained disabling damage to the passenger side and was towed from the scene by Kightlinger Motors. Mr. Mondak was not cited.
I was remarkably uninjured in this MVA and I would like to express my appreciation to Trooper Savannah and all from the Township and Kightlinger Motors tow truck drivers. I would recommend that this road have limited access during the winter months and signs be posted BEFORE being able to access this road. GPS units are not always correct!
