1 min read

PPL Electric Utilities customers have until Friday to apply for the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program.  The state Department of Public Welfare recently extended the deadline.  LIHEAP provides heating bill assistance through cash grants, and has crisis grants for emergency situations.  Cash grants are based on household income, family size, type of heating fuel and region.  Applicants will have to provide a recent bill or statement from their fuel dealer verifying they customer status and the type of fuel used, but applicants need not have an unpaid bill or receive public assistance.  Proof of income and household size are also required.

Eligible customers can apply online at www.compass.state.pa.us or download an application from PPL Electric Utilities’ website, www.pplelectric.com.

Customers also can apply in-person at county assistance offices.  There is also a toll-free hotline at 1-866-857-7095 that customers can call with questions.
