Crash on Rt 6

Mansfield PSP Investigator Daniel Doney reports on a crash which took place on 4-14-12 at 17:58 hours on US HWY 6, 673 feet south of State Highway 549.  A 2001 Isuzu Trooper was driven by Xavier Lyon, 20, of Troy, PA; a passenger was Kevin VanZile, 22, of Towanda, PA, both wearing safety belts.  The vehicle was travelling west on SR6 in Richmond Twp., Tioga County.  Lyon lost control while attempting to negotiate a right hand curve due to driving at an unsafe speed for conditions.    The vehicle began to fishtail back and forth across both lanes of travel until it struck the guide rail on the south side of the roadway with its right front corner.  Upon striking the rail it began to spin wildly in a counter clockwise direction until it left the roadway and struck an embankment with its right rear corner.  The vehicle then climbed the embankment for several feet before rolling over onto its side coming to rest in the eastbound lane of SR6 on its driver’s side pointing northeast.  There were no injuries.  Lyon was charged with VC 3361 Driving Vehicle at Safe Speed.
