National Honors For County Wellness Programs

Employee wellness programs pay numerous dividends — greater efficiency, reduced health insurance claims, lower absenteeism and improved morale among them. On Monday, July 16, Potter County’s innovative approaches to encouraging community wellness will be in the national spotlight, as Commissioner Susan Kefover presents a program at the National Association of Counties (NACO) Annual Convention in Pittsburgh. She’ll focus not only on county employees’ success in a statewide weight-loss contest and the county’s vibrant Wellness Committee, but also on some of the broader ongoing community health initiatives that involve all five public school districts and Charles Cole Memorial Hospital. Commissioner Kefover is being assisted with her presentation by a volunteer student intern, Autumn Solomon of Austin. NACO invited her to speak at the national convention to spotlight Potter County’s wellness initiative as a national model.
