7 pm UPDATE: Some Electric Service Restored
1 min readMany Potter County households will heading into a second dark night as three electric companies work to restore power. However, portions of Coudersport were brought back online shortly after 6 pm. West Penn Power is still working in the Coudersport and Roulette areas. The company has had some success in restoring service to substations and is deploying crews to re-establish localized/neighborhood service. The latter process will take a considerable amount of time, as damage to lines and related equipment is severe. Sections will be brought on-line incrementally. Meanwhile, Penelec was reporting that it expected to have service restored in the Galeton area by Friday evening, and Tri-County REC continues working to restore its larger grid areas as quickly as possible.
Potter County officials are asking residents in the affected areas to check on their neighbors and see if they can render assistance to those with special needs, as refrigeration, water-pumping and communications services remain unavailable. Coudersport Volunteer Fire Department reminds those in need that its modular units along Rt. 6 west in Coudersport are open as comfort stations.
