High-Speed Chase Ends in Arrest
1 min readA 39-year-old Olean man, Paul E. Tyler Jr., was taken into custody on Tuesday following a high-speed vehicle pursuit that led deputies on a wild chase through the city of Salamanca. The incident began with an attempted traffic stop on Wildwood Avenue, which Tyler allegedly fled, prompting a pursuit that reached high speeds.
During the chase, Tyler reportedly allowed a passenger to exit the vehicle, who then fled on foot. However, Tyler’s attempt to escape was short-lived, as he lost control of the vehicle and slid off the roadway near the intersection of Route 417 and Sullivan Hollow Road.
Tyler was subsequently charged with a slew of offenses, including first-degree reckless endangerment, third-degree unlawful fleeing of a police officer, and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. He was also found to have multiple outstanding arrest warrants issued by Olean City Court and was turned over to the Olean Police Department.
In other news, the Wellsville Police Department arrested 48-year-old Aaron A. Geracci on a bench warrant issued by Wellsville Village Court, while the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office took 35-year-old Andrew Button into custody on a bench warrant issued by Cattaraugus County Court.
The New York State Police also reported several incidents, including the arrest of 36-year-old Niko L. Greenman on charges of aggravated criminal contempt and aggravated family offense. Additionally, two one-vehicle accidents were reported, one in Richburg and another in Great Valley, resulting in injuries to the drivers involved.
