Olean Principal Faces Charges

The principal of Olean High School, Jeffrey Andreano, has been arrested and charged with misdemeanor offenses following an alleged physical altercation with a student. According to Olean Police Chief Ron Richardson, Andreano, 55, was charged with endangering the welfare of a child and second-degree harassment on Friday.

The incident has sparked a response from the Olean City School District, with Superintendent Dr. Genelle Morris stating that the district is cooperating fully with law enforcement and will continue to follow district policy and New York state law. Morris emphasized that the safety and well-being of students remain the district’s top priority.

Andreano, who has served as principal of Olean High School since 2015, was released with a ticket to appear in Olean City Court on January 20. The district has declined to provide further details on the incident, citing confidentiality and the ongoing legal process.

As the investigation unfolds, the Olean City School District is committed to maintaining a safe and supportive school environment. With a focus on transparency and responsibility, the district will navigate this complex situation while prioritizing the needs of its students.

Andreano’s background in education includes a bachelor’s degree in secondary education mathematics from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania and a master’s degree in administration, supervision, and curriculum from St. Bonaventure University.
