Gifford Shooting Arrest
A Foster Township man has been arrested and charged with multiple counts of assault and other offenses after allegedly shooting at a vehicle in Gifford, Pennsylvania. According to District Attorney Stephanie Vettenburg-Shaffer, the incident occurred early in the morning when the suspect, Matthew Luke, entered the residence of his ex-girlfriend and engaged in a physical altercation with her.
Another woman in the residence attempted to flee the scene in her vehicle but was blocked by Luke’s car. As she tried to drive away, Luke exited the residence and fired shots at her vehicle, shattering the driver’s window and causing her to crash. The victim was able to escape and run to safety, while Luke fled the scene.
Luke was later located and taken into custody by the Pennsylvania State Police. He has been charged with Aggravated Assault, Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Burglary, Terroristic Threats, Simple Assault, and Propulsion of Missile in Occupied Vehicle, among other offenses. Corporal Sierra Rooke is leading the investigation, and additional charges are possible.
Luke was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Richard Luther, who set bail at $1 million. He has been remanded to the McKean County Jail and is scheduled to appear in central court on December 11th. The Pennsylvania State Police are continuing to investigate the incident and are urging anyone with information to come forward.
The community can rest assured that there is no ongoing threat, and the police presence in the area is solely for investigative purposes. The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of prioritizing domestic violence awareness and support for victims.
