Firearm Purchase Arrest
A 33-year-old man, Tyrone Bailey, has been arrested and charged with attempting to illegally purchase a firearm from a licensed dealer in Bradford, Pennsylvania. The incident occurred on March 29, 2025, when Bailey tried to buy a pistol from Sportsmans Outlet, located at 500 Chestnut Street. During the purchase process, Bailey completed the required federal and state forms, but an investigation revealed that he had falsified information regarding a court-ordered protection.
According to the City of Bradford Police Department, Bailey had an active order of protection issued out of New York State, which he failed to disclose on the ATF Form 4473 and the Pennsylvania State Application of Sale SP4-113. By signing the forms, Bailey falsely attested that the information provided was true and complete, violating federal and state laws. The Pennsylvania State Police Firearms Unit provided evidence of the completed forms and the order of protection, which led to Bailey’s arrest.
The City of Bradford Police Department takes incidents like this very seriously and emphasizes the importance of honesty and transparency during the firearms purchase process. Bailey was arraigned before Judge Engman on April 26, 2026, and bail was set at $25,000, which he was unable to post. He is currently being held at the Mckean County Jail. The police department urges anyone with information about illegal firearms activities to come forward and contact them at (814) 887-4911.
This incident highlights the need for strict enforcement of firearms laws and the importance of ensuring public safety. The City of Bradford Police Department is committed to upholding the law and preventing illegal firearms activities. As a reminder, all individuals are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
