Investigation Into $119k Bolivar Fire Dept. Misappropriation Underway

The alleged misappropriation of about $119,000 in Bolivar Joint Fire District funds remains under investigation, but no arrests had been made as of Tuesday(August 3) .

The objective in doing the audit was to determine whether the secretary/treasurer properly accounted for all money received and disbursed in his official capacity from Jan. 1, 2008 through April 27, 2010. DiNapoli said his office extended its review of cash receipts and disbursements activity back to January 2001.

Bolivar Fire Chief Randy Torrey emphasized that the fire department has nothing to do with the misappropriated funds.
