Wellsville Student Breaks World Record

WELLSVILLE – Wellsville student Samuel Koch, 16, set both the World and American Raw Single-Lift Deadlift records with a lift of 360 pounds at the 2010 AAU Junior Olympic Games earlier this summer at Virginia Beach, Va.
Koch, who has been training and competing for the last four years as part of the PowerKids program, weighed in at 147 pounds and is one of seven from the program who have qualified to advance to the international-level competition at the World Championships in Las Vegas, Nev., from Dec. 6-8.
He looks like a pretty normal 16 year old. That’s pretty much what I looked like at 16.
