Stephen Keefer, a defendant acquitted in one of the Bonusgate Pennsylvania legislative corruption trials, wants his state job back and is suing state Attorney General Tom Corbett and others for more than $2 million in punitive damages and back pay.
Keefer, 40, who worked as an information technology director for the House Democratic caucus from 2002 to 2007, says he was wrongfully fired and his reputation was damaged by allegations by the Attorney General’s office that he participated in an illegal scheme where state money was used for political purposes, according to the suit filed in U.S. District Court for the Middle District. Keefer earned about $96,000 annually with benefits, the suit said.
