ATV set on Fire, Dumped in Pond

HECTOR TWP. – State Police are investigating a burglary that occurred sometime between December 2, 2010 and April 20, 2011.

Police say in the commission of this crime, unknown actor(s) forced their way into a detached garage located at 435 Downey Road in Hector Township. The property is owned by 53-year-old Edward R. Berger, of Slatington, PA.

Once inside, the actor(s) smashed beer bottles over equipment, removed a helmet, an ATV, five used rims with tires and four 5-gallon cans filled with gasoline.

The actor(s) then set the tires and ATV on fire, eventually pushing the ATV into a pond on the property.

Police say the person(s) responsible also stole a face chord of cut firewood.
