Barbara A. Tassone, 70, of Bradford

Barbara A. Tassone, 70, of 154 Constitution Ave. passed away, Thursday, January 20th, 2011 at the Bradford Regional Medical Center.

Born August 26, 1940, in Bradford, she was a daughter of the late James and Margaret E (Petruney) Varatta.

On October 24, 1959 in St. Bernard Church she married Robert D. Tassone who survives.

Mrs. Tassone was a 1958 graduate of St. Bernard High School. She worked and had been known as “The Beer Lady” at Zega Beer Distributor for many years and she also worked at J. C. Penneys.    After her retirement she devoted many years  to taking care of her family members.

She was and avid baker, canned goods and candy maker and enjoyed selling her goods at the Farmers Market in town. She enjoyed playing bingo, and going to the Seneca Casino.

In addition to her husband she is survived by a daughter, Kelley (Bob) Barmer of Bradford, a brother, Joseph (Marge) Varatta of Cincinnati, Ohio, two nephews, Jim Varatta and Chris Varatta, two nieces Jenny Belesi, and Katie Varatta. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a sister Theresa “Terry” Varatta.

There will be no public vistiation, private funeral service will be held for the family in the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes Inc. with Rev. Leo Gallina, pastor of St. Bernard Church officiating. Burial will be in  St. Bernard Cemetery.
