UPDATE: Police have arrested 25-year-old Katherine Hayes in connection with the Community Bank robbery. Hayes has been charged with first-degree bank robbery and sent to jail on $100,000 bail.

OLEAN, NY – A woman who allegedly robbed the Allegany branch of Community Bank this morning, has been captured, according to unofficial sources.
The woman, described as large and being in her 20’s with reddish/blonde hair, reportedly ran out of the bank after handing a teller a note demanding money.
Police quickly arrived at the bank and began searching for the woman. News of her capture came just before 1 p.m. Information indicates the woman was located and taken into custody near 18th Street.

State Police in Amity, NY released the following statement:
The New York State Police in Olean is investigating a bank robbery that occurred at the Community Bank located at 3140 W. State St. in the town of Allegany, NY at approximately 11:15 a.m.
The suspect is described as a heavy set white female, approximately 5’08” tall, shoulder length, brownish-red hair. During the time of the robbery the suspect was wearing a light blue, navy blue and white striped shirt and jean shorts. The perpetrator also had a multi-colored bandana, sunglasses and flip-flops or sandals. Information was developed that the subject soon changed into a black, short sleeved shirt at a nearby store. The female entered the bank, displayed a note stating that she had a weapon and demanded money. No weapon was displayed and she left the bank on foot in a northbound direction. The female may be associated with another female and a charcoal, gray late 1990’s Chevrolet, two door Blazer or GMC Jimmy. The vehicle has a roof rack, spare tire on the back and a possible bug shield. The associated person is a white female with longer dark hair, wearing blue jeans, a bluish long sleeve shirt with tan sleeves.
New York State Police requests anyone who witnessed or has information regarding the incident to contact SP Amity at 585-268-9030.
