Commissioners Hold Third Town Meeting In Roulette

2 min read

Potter County Today

townmeetingsPotter County Commissioners Doug Morley, Susan Kefover and Paul Heimel held their third in a series of six “town meetings” Monday night in Roulette. Numerous topics were covered, including local residents’ concerns about the impact of heavy equipment associated with gas drilling on township roads. The commissioners pointed out that the county has no authority over road issues, but township supervisors can require companies to maintain and/or repair roads.

A localized issue involving emergency responders in Roulette and lack of coordination between dispatchers in Tioga and McKean counties was discussed in detail with members of the Roulette Chemical Engine Company. The commissioners agreed to investigate the situation and contact the fire company with their findings.

Lack of services for senior citizens in the Roulette area was also discussed. The commissioners suggested that a local steering committee be formed and pledged to have the Potter County Area Agency on Aging engage with the local organization to provide services.

Remaining schedule for the commissioners’ town meetings is as follows (all meetings at 7 pm):

  • Wednesday, Nov. 10, Galeton Area School.
  • Monday, Nov. 15, Oswayo Valley High School.
  • Tuesday, Nov. 16, Coudersport Area Elementary School.

Format of the meetings is informal. Following brief presentations from each of the commissioners, the floor will be open to questions and a roundtable discussion of issues affecting the county and/or local communities. Although the meetings are open to all, the commissioners are especially encouraging attendance by residents of the school district where each meeting is being held.
