County Continues Updates On Personnel Policy

Potter County Commissioners Doug Morley, Paul Heimel and Susan Kefover continue work on revising the county employees’ personnel policy. Changes are being made incrementally to update a document that dates back more than a quarter-century. Last year, the commissioners adopted a plank that covers the use of electronic resources, limiting the use of county computers, servers and internet access to county business only. Most recently, the commissioners have drafted a Sexual Harassment Policy to protect employees from harassment and from gender discrimination.
Copies of the proposed policy have been distributed to elected officials, department heads and managers and the commissioners expect to adopt the policy as an amendment to the Personnel Policy in the coming weeks. The county will also be holding workshops for employees to inform them of the policy, including identification of behaviors that are considered sexual harassment and gender discrimination, procedures for reporting violations and penalties for those who fail to comply.
