County Employee Team Embraces ‘Dress A Girl’ Campaign

From Potter County Today

deannalindakarinPotter County Assessment Office and Tax Claim Bureau employees have embraced a worthy cause and they’re seeking help from their work colleagues and the public. It’s called “Dress A Girl.” Basically, the employees — on their own time — have been collecting pillowcases and sewing elastic and bias tape onto them. The end product is a cute dress for an underpriviliged girl in the Dominican Republic.

Those who are willing to donate pillowcases (the more colorful, the better) or make a financial contribution for supplies can do so at the Assessment Office in the Gunzburger Building. Employees Deanna Johnston (left), Karin Karr (kneeling), Linda Gambino (right) and Gayle Potocek have adopted the Dress A Girl cause, in support of former assessment office employee Joy Currier, who with her daughter Mollie plans to travel to the Dominican Republic on a mission trip in June. The sooner the local team can obtain more pillowcases and supplies, the better. They’ve already produced about 60 dresses and they’re willing to share instructions with those who would like to make a dress and donate it.
