County Renews 9-1-1 Dispatch Partnership With Tioga

A partnership between Tioga and Potter counties for emergency services dispatching has been extended. Potter County Commissioners Doug Morley, Paul Heimel and Susan Kefover approved the plan at Thursday’s business meeting, continuing an arrangement whereby 9-1-1 calls are fielded by dispatchers based in Wellsboro. The new contract extends through 2015. In partnering with Tioga, Potter County pays an annual fee, but avoids the major expense of operating its own 9-1-1 dispatch center, which must be staffed ’round-the-clock with multiple dispatchers as well as auxiliary staff to account for illness, vacations, etc.
