Crash on RT49

Investigator Aaron M. Messner of the Mansfield PSP reports that a crash occurred on 4-8-12 at3:54 AM.  An unidentified male driver, 16, was driving his 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan west in the westbound lane of RT 49 when he fell asleep and drifted across the eastbound lane and off the roadway, striking a utility pole.  The vehicle came to final rest at the base of the pole.  The top of the pole was hanging over the roadway by electrical wires.  The driver was uninjured and was wearing a safety belt.  Assisting on the scene was Knoxville Fire Company, Penelec and Gary’s Garage.  The driver will be cited VC3309 Driving on Roadways Laned for Traffic, and T1138180-1 and VC1503 Persons Ineligible for Licensing; license issuance to minors; junior driver’s license T1138181-2.
