Deer Collision on PA Route 44
A recent vehicular accident occurred on State Route 44 in Hebron Township, Potter County, involving a 2021 Mazda CX5. The incident took place on December 6, 2025, at approximately 6:49 pm, when the vehicle, driven by 23-year-old Joshua Mesler, collided with multiple deer that had entered the roadway.
The driver, who was wearing a lap and shoulder belt, managed to bring the vehicle to a stop on the right shoulder of the northbound lane. Fortunately, Mesler declined medical attention and did not suffer any injuries. The front left portion of the vehicle sustained damage as a result of the collision.
The accident highlights the importance of being cautious while driving, particularly during peak deer season. Motorists are advised to exercise extreme vigilance when navigating roads where wildlife is known to be present. The Pennsylvania State Police, along with Kightlinger Motor, responded to the scene and provided assistance.
