Dental Care for Potter County Kids
1 min readFree dental care for eligible children
The Potter County Integrated Children’s Services Planning Board is implementing a dental initiative, again this year, whereby pre-school and school-aged children, ages 3 – 17, can have dental care/education, providing they:
• are not eligible for medical assistance
• do not have dental insurance
• are families that cannot pay for needed dental treatment
• have a pre-urgent or urgent need for dental treatment
Because of a Promising Practices Grant, last year 10 dental providers treated various dental conditions for 32 youths. In addition, 119 youths received “free” dental screenings, at the Family Fun Fair at the Millport Fair Grounds, Oswayo Valley School, and the 2010 Maple Festival in Coudersport. Also, 870 dental packets have been given to all Potter County students in the five school districts, grades K – 3.
Another grant, for dental subsidies, has been awarded to Potter County that will allow for dental care, dental supplies, and educational materials for Potter County youths, as funds permit.
The process for getting your child approved for dental care is simple. For more information please contact Joy Glassmire, Potter County Human Services, Roulette (814-544-7315) with any questions you may have, or ask your school nurse about this program.
