Election Day Must Go On! Generators Welcome
1 min readFrom Potter County Today
With the potential for power outages on election day (Tuesday, April 24), Potter County Director of Elections Sandra Lewis is preparing contingency plans. Polls across the county will be open from 7 am to 8 pm and electricity to power the electronic voting machines is a “must.” However, forecasts of accumulating heavy snow stretching into election day have prompted warnings of power outages due to falling tree limbs.
Some of the local election precincts are prepared with backup power sources to keep the lighting and voting machines operating if electrical service is interrupted. However, many are not. Director Lewis has asked organizations or individuals who are willing to donate the use of a generator to contact her office at 814-274-8467 or slewis@pottercountypa.net. Calls are also being taken by Sharon Costa in the Commissioners Office at 814-274-8290, Ext. 207. County officials are compiling a list of those who are willing to loan out a generator and providing the information to local election officials.
