Elkland High School Graduate Killed in Afghanistan
1 min readRATHBUN, N.Y. – An Elkland High School graduate living in New York was killed while fighting the war in Afghanistan, according to the U.S. Department of Defense.
Lance Cpl. Michael G. Plank, 25, of Rathbun, N.Y., was assigned to the 8th Engineer Support Battalion, 1st Marine Logistics Group, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, Calif.
Department officials aren’t releasing how Plank was killed, only that he died Wednesday while supporting combat operations in Helmand Province, Afghanistan.
Plank attended the Addison, N.Y., High School during his junior high school years before transferring to Elkland High School in Tioga County, according to information from the Veteran’s Affairs office.
