ELKLAND – After three months of the public wondering what would happen, the Northern Tioga School Board voted Saturday morning 8-1 to close Elkland Area Junior-Senior High School.
The reason for the closure, according to the resolution passed, was because of declining enrollment numbers. The district underwent a 17.89 percent decline from the 2000-01 school year to the 2010-11 school year, from 2,615 to 2,136, or a loss of 479 students, the resolution cited.
