Emporium and Sabula Bridge Repairs to Start Next Week
1 min readClearfield – Repair activities will start in earnest next week on two bridges in the region. Motorists will encounter traffic controls at the following locations:
- Route 3001 (Broad Street) in Emporium. The bridge spans the Driftwood Branch of the Sinnemahoning. Temporary signals are in flash mode and will be fully activated on Thursday, June 16. This will allow for a one-lane closure on the bridge while repairs take place. Rocker bearing repair will take about one month. The signals will then be turned off until bridge painting takes place later this year.
- Route 255 near Sabula Lake in Sandy Township. The bridge spans the Sandy Lick Creek, just north of Sabula Lake. Temporary signals are in flash mode and will be fully activated on Tuesday, June 14. This will allow for a one-lane closure on the bridge while repairs take place. Work will include beam encasements and guiderail updates. Work is expected to last about two months.
Work on both bridges is part of a $4.4 million bridge preservation contract for 21 bridges in three counties (9 in Potter County, 1 in Cameron County and 11 in Clearfield County). Glenn O. Hawbaker Inc. of State College is the contractor for this work.
