Endeavor News Reports on Bear Harvest

Expectations were high for bear hunters during the three-day season that ended Tuesday, thanks to banner bruin populations in northcentral Pennsylvania.
While there is no report from the Pa. Game Commission on how hunters fared, the general concensus is that the kill was below expectations.
Sterling Run’s Sam Johnson was one of the hunters who connected this season, bagging this 470-pound (estimated live weight) male in the Elk State Forest in Grove Township, Cameron County on Saurday. It was Johnson’s first bear. Field dressed it weighed a hefty 397 pounds.
A full report on the season will appear in next week’s edition of the Endeavor News.
