UPDATED: Double Fatal Accident in Gaines
1 min readMansfield-based State Police have confirmed that the accident earlier today that shutdown Route 6 in Gaines was fatal.
Police say 48-year-old Arthur F. Allen and 38-year-old Debra E. Moyer, both of Wellsboro, PA, were traveling East on Route 6 towards Wellsboro, when Moyer lost control of the 2006 Kia Spectra she was driving on the snow-covered road and crossed the center lane into oncoming traffic.
Moyer’s vehicle was then struck on the passenger’s side by a 1997 Ford F-150, driven by 64-year-old Earl D. Baker, of Galeton, PA.
Allen was pronounced dead at the scene by Deputy Coroner Steve Daugherty.
Moyer was transported to Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital in Wellsboro where she was pronounced dead by the attending physician.
Baker and his passenger, 65-year-old Sandra J. Baker, of Galeton, were both transported to Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital for treatment of injuries.
Galeton Fire and Ambulance assisted at the scene.
Both vehicles were towed by Gaines Garage.
