The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch.

…A FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM THURSDAY MORNING THROUGH THURSDAY EVENING… THE FLOOD WATCH CONTINUES FOR * A PORTION OF CENTRAL PENNSYLVANIA…INCLUDING THE FOLLOWING AREAS…ADAMS…COLUMBIA…CUMBERLAND…DAUPHIN…FRANKLIN… FULTON…HUNTINGDON…JUNIATA…LANCASTER…LEBANON… MIFFLIN…MONTOUR…NORTHERN LYCOMING…NORTHUMBERLAND… PERRY…SCHUYLKILL…SNYDER…SOUTHERN CENTRE…SOUTHERN CLINTON…SOUTHERN LYCOMING…SULLIVAN…TIOGA…UNION AND YORK.

* FROM THURSDAY MORNING THROUGH THURSDAY EVENING. *  UPPER LEVEL LOW PRESSURE OVER THE TENNESSEE VALLEY WILL MOVE TO THE NORTHEAST AND INTERACT WITH DEEP TROPICAL MOISTURE BEING DRAWN NORTHWARD FROM FLORIDA IN ASSOCIATION WITH TROPICAL STORM NICOLE. THIS WILL RESULT IN HEAVY RAIN FOR THE REGION. THE RAIN WILL MOVE INTO CENTRAL PENNSYLVANIA FROM THE SOUTH TONIGHT AND EARLY THURSDAY MORNING. THE RAIN WILL CONTINUE…HEAVY AT TIMES FOR MUCH OF THE DAY THURSDAY…TAPERING OFF DURING THE AFTERNOON. THE RAIN COULD LINGER ACROSS THE NORTHEASTERN MOUNTAINS THROUGH THURSDAY EVENING. A WIDESPREAD 3 TO 4 INCHES OF RAIN IS EXPECTED TO FALL OVER THE WATCH AREA FROM LATE TONIGHT INTO LATE THURSDAY. LOCALIZED…NARROW BANDS OF VERY HEAVY RAINFALL AROUND 5 INCHES ARE POSSIBLE ACROSS THE EASTERN HALF OF PENNSYLVANIA.  * THE HEAVY RAINFALL WILL PUSH MOST OF THE SMALL STREAMS AND CREEKS IN THE AREA TO BANK FULL LEVELS…AND MANY COULD FLOOD. THE MAJOR RIVERS WILL SHOW ONLY MINOR RISES…BUT THE SMALLER RIVERS AND LARGER STREAMS IN THE SUSQUEHANNA VALLEY WILL APPROACH FLOOD STAGES. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS… A FLOOD WATCH MEANS THERE IS A POTENTIAL FOR FLOODING ON SMALL STREAMS…CREEKS…POOR DRAINAGE…URBAN AND LOW-LYING AREAS BASED ON CURRENT FORECASTS. YOU SHOULD MONITOR LATER FORECASTS AND BE ALERT FOR POSSIBLE FLOOD WARNINGS. THOSE LIVING IN AREAS PRONE TO FLOODING SHOULD BE PREPARED TO TAKE ACTION SHOULD FLOODING DEVELOP. & &
