Free Help for Those Trying to Quit Smoking
1 min readFrom Potter County Today
Potter County Human Services reminds area residents that free help is available for those trying to quit smoking. The program is provided by Clinical Outcomes Group Inc. (COGI). No-cost nicotine replacement therapy is available to participants in the form of patches, gum and lozenges. Information is available by calling toll-free 1-800-264-1290 or sending email to quit@COGInc.org.
COGI has been providing services in Pennsylvania for more than ten years. A non-profit organization, COGI serves those affected by alcohol, tobacco and abusive situations. In addition to holding workshops, the organization refers individuals to support groups and otherwise helps them through the process of quitting.
Dan Derr, executive director of COGI, said his organization has a solid track record of helping those in the target groups. He added that recent tax increases on tobacco products have resulted in a larger number of smokers attempting to quit.
