Several area emergency services organizations have received a shot in the arm as a result of revenue collected from state-licensed gambling. Slot machine revenue distributed to volunteer agencies can be used for construction or renovation, purchase or repair of equipment, training, or debt reduction. Grants in Potter County included: Tri-Town (Ulysses) Fire/Ambulance, $16,120; Shinglehouse Fire/Ambulance, $15,730; Genesee Fire/Ambulance, $15,450; Austin Fire/Ambulance and Roulette Fire/Ambulance, $15,180 each; Kettle Creek (Cross Fork) Fire/Ambulance, $14,180; Harrison Township VFD, $9,780; Coudersport Ambulance and Gale Hose (Galeton), $5,680 each.
