WELLSVILLE, NY – A Potter County, PA man is behind bars in New York, accused of leading police on a high speed chase which ended in a crash.
Police said 20-year-old Derrick Barker, of Harrison Valley, exceeded 100 miles per hour during the chase.
According to police, the chase began on Tuesday evening when Barker sped away from them on Route 417, between Boliver and Alma. Police then pursued Barker into the Village of Wellsville, at which point Barker crashed his pickup truck and then fled into the woods.
Police said Barker was found two hours later, hiding in the woods in just his underwear.
Barker was arrested on charges of DUI, fleeing a police officer, and other related offenses. He was sent to jail in lieu of $5,000 bail.
