Help For Medicare Recipients In Coudersport, Galeton

Medicare recipients can receive free help as they negotiate the complicated “Part D Extra Help” application process. Potter County Area Agency on Aging personnel recently attended training to help them guide eligible Medicare beneficiaries. Eligibility requirements have changed and income limits are now as follows are:

single person, monthly income, $1,396; resources, $13,070;

married person, monthly income, $1,891; resources, $26,120.
“Resources” include bank accounts, stocks, bonds, retirement accounts, mutual funds, savings bonds, mineral rights leases, cash and real estate other than a home.
Counselors will provide free help from 1-4 pm on Monday, March 19, at the Gunzburger Building in Coudersport; and from 1-4 pm on Friday, March 30, at the ambulance building in Galeton. Appointments may be scheduled by calling 1-800-800-2560 or 544-7315.
