Jefferson County Doctor Killed in Crash

SANDY TWP. – Police say Dr. Albert Varacallo, Jr., of DuBois was killed after his bicycle collided with a car Thursday morning.
The Doctor was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, but was thrown from his bike after being struck by a car driven by Scott Sago, 28, of Kersey.
Medical personnel life-flighted the Doctor to Altoona Hospital, but he later died.
Doctor Varacallo operated a family practice in Reynoldsville for some years.
It is unclear whether or not charges will be filed yet.
