Leaders Consider Heritage Theme For County Seat
1 min readA vision of Main Street as a quaint, tourist-friendly commerce center was presented to Coudersport Area Chamber of Commerce members last week. Architect David Dupont discussed the options that a local group has been exploring to complement the rehabilitation work PennDOT is planning in the coming years. With buy-in by organizations such as the Chamber of Commerce, Potter County Visitors Association, Pennsylvania Wilds Planning Team, Coudersport Borough and others – including business owners – the group believes the appearance of the downtown area could be more appealing.
Dupont listed the elements that would attract tourists: older-style and uniform color schemes; historic restoration; sign uniformity; restoration of brick exteriors; use of one-way traffic patterns and renovation of select sidewalks. He emphasized the need for business owners, community leaders and other citizens to become engaged early in the process so they can partner effectively with PennDOT and other stakeholders.
