Human remains found in the Allegany Reservoir three years ago belong to a Salamanca woman who’s been missing for more than 5 years.

45-year-old Traci Douglass was reported missing in January of 2007. Her remains were found on September 26, 2009, in the Town of South Valley. It was at that time the sheriff’s office released pictures of boots similar to those the victim was wearing.

Since then scientists have been working on dental and DNA profiles to identify the remains.

Investigators say the case remains open because they have not determined a cause of death. Anyone with information should contact Detective William Welling at the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office.
