A man convicted of kidnapping and killing a St. Marys woman in 1989 was granted a stay of execution pending a hearing in Clearfield.
On Aug. 31, Gov. Tom Corbett signed the death warrant for Daniel Crispell, 40, to be executed on Oct. 19.
However, it was later discovered that Crispell still had his Post Conviction Relief Act hearing pending in Clearfield so senior Judge John B. Leete of Potter County, who was assigned the case by the state Supreme Court, stayed his conviction until his case can be resolved.
