Local American Red Cross Reopens St. Mary’s Branch Office, Hosts Community Open House
2 min readST. MARYS – The American Red Cross serving Elk and Cameron Counties will reopen the doors of its local office to area residents this November. The humanitarian organization, which aims to alleviate and prevent human suffering across the country, once again has a home base in the St. Marys community.
To mark the office opening, the local Red Cross will host an Open House event on Thursday, Nov. 8 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at 808 S. Michael St. in St. Marys. The event will offer refreshments, prizes and networking opportunities as well as showcase the new Red Cross Disaster Response Trailer. The event is free and open to the public.
“We encourage our community partners and area residents to join us for our reopening event,” said Greg Donahue, local chairman of the board for the American Red Cross. “We are thrilled to be back in St. Marys.”
Attendees will have the opportunity to meet volunteers and staff members, learn about volunteer opportunities available with the local office and look through the new Disaster Response Trailer.
“The new office will house one full-time disaster staff member and several volunteers,” said Jason Bange, Executive Director of the local Red Cross. “We are looking forward to calling St. Marys home, again.”
The Red Cross branch office closed in St. Marys nearly one year ago for financial reasons. After a recent restructuring effort, the local organization was able to move back into the area and reopen the office.
