Largest Drug Bust Ever in McKean County Today

We are still receiving information on what is being reported as the largest drug bust in local history.

Numerous law enforcement agencies and departments worked together in what appears to be have been a major multi-county drug sweep.

We have received several unconfirmed reports of arrests in Roulette and Port Allegany.

McKean County District Attorney Ray Learn released the following the press release:

Today, the McKean County Drug Task Force arrested thirty-one (31) suspected drug dealers from various parts of McKean County. In the first operation of its size, seventeen officers from the McKean County Drug Task Force, assisted by thirteen law enforcement officers from other county and municipal law enforcement agencies, made arrests in nearly fifty (50) cases for Felony drug delivery charges. These charges span from early 2009 to June of 2010. The sweep resulted in the seizure of five vehicles, quantities of cocaine and cash, prescription pills, and drug paraphernalia.

Participating in the operation was the McKean County Drug Task Force, McKean County District Attorney’s Office, Bradford City Police Department, Bradford Township Police Department, Foster Township Police Department, Port Allegany Police Department, Smethport Police Department, McKean County Sherriff’s Department, Cattaraugus County Sherriff’s Department Canine Unit, McKean County Adult Probation, McKean County Children and Youth Services, Pennsylvania Board of Probation and Parole, and the McKean County Humane Society.

District Attorney Ray Learn said: “This was an enormous undertaking that was made possible by the cooperation of all the law enforcement agencies involved. We had officers in several places throughout the county executing arrest and search warrants simultaneously all day. Today’s sweep was the culmination of nearly two years of work conducted by the Drug Task Force. The Officer’s and prosecutors that were involved have worked extremely hard on making this happen. It is a top priority of my office to address the significant drug issues plaguing McKean County. I want the message to be clear; that drug dealers will be prosecuted in McKean County. I also want to thank the County Commissioners for their continued support of the Drug Task Force.”

More information as it becomes available.
