Man Allegedly on Bath Salts Arrested Half-Naked along Route 6
1 min readPIKE TWP. – State Police in Coudersport have charged a New York man with Aggravated Assault after he allegedly threw a cement cinder block at a State Trooper.
Stephen C. Berds, 36, of Youngstown, NY, was taken into custody after police received a report a “half-naked individual walking around Route 6.”
Police say they initially found Berds vehicle and discovered that he was listed as missing and endangered out of New York and believed to be under the influence of Bath Salts.
Berds was eventually located behind a seasonal residence, at which point police allege he threw the cinder block at Cpl. McKean, striking him in the right forearm, before attempting to flee the scene. Berds was then taken into custody with the use of a taser, according to police.
Berds has been charged with 2 counts of Aggravated Assault(F), 1 count of Simple Assault(M2), 1 count of Resisting Arrest(M2), 1 count of Open Lewdness(M3), and 1 count of Summary Harassment in District Court 55-4-03.
