Man Arrested for Attempted Homicide after Running Over High School Student
1 min readTIOGA CO. – A 19-year-old Liberty man is behind bars on charges of attempted homicide after he allegedly tried to stab a 16-year-old Liberty High School student and then ran him over.
Police say Paul L. Cady confronted the 16-year-old male in the parking lot of Liberty High School, at which time an argument over a female ensued. Witnesses told police Cady left the parking lot stating, “I got a surprise for you.”
Police say Cady returned five minutes later with a large knife and attempted to attack the student with it. When Cady was unable to reach the victim, he is accused of returning to his vehicle and then driving over the victim.
An arrest warrant was issued for Cady and he was taken into custody without incident, according to police.
Cady was arraigned in front District Judge James Carlson and remanded to the Tioga County Prison without bail on one count of Criminal Attempt – Homicide(F1); Aggravated Assault(F2); Recklessly Endangering Another Person(M2); Terroristic Threats(M1); 3 counts of Simple Assault(M); and various summary citations.
Police did not release the condition of the victim.
