A free workshop entitled “Marcellus Shale Natural Gas Exploration and Leasing” will be held at 7 pm Thursday, Aug. 19, at the Millcreek Township Firehall in Fisher (Clarion County). Sponsored by Penn State Cooperative Extension, the session will cover natural gas industry trends, water resource issues and property leasing guidelines. It’s geared especially toward public officials, community volunteers and landowners who are considering a gas lease. Those planning to attend are asked to register by calling (814) 223-9028.
Registration is now open for the 2010 Marcellus Summit, scheduled for Oct. 10-12 at the Penn Stater Conference Center Hotel in State College. Entitled “Building a Sustainable Future,” the summit will identify the challenges, opportunities, and common goals in areas such as environmental protection, regional infrastructure development, issues for local governments, economic opportunities, and legal issues. Target audiences are local and county government officials, industry representatives, environmental and community groups. Details, including registration information, can be found here.
