Marion D. Young, 84, of Genesee

Marion D. Young, 84, of Bingham Center Road, Genesee, PA, died Friday, September 23, 2011 in the Sweden Valley Manor, Coudersport, PA.

Born October 18, 1926, in Olean, NY, she was the daughter of Patrick Edward and E. Faye Shirey Barrett.

On February 6, 1944, in Ellisburg, PA, she married Byron M. Young, who predeceased her on July 22, 1997.

She was employed as a nurse’s aide at Cole Memorial Hospital in Coudersport, PA for 23 years, retiring in 1995. Marion was a member of the HUG Senior Center in Ulysses.

Surviving are: a son, Michael (Cheryl) Young of Bingham Center, PA; two granddaughters, Jaime (Rob) Stiles of Eldred, PA and Pam (David) Seifert of Bristow, VA; two great-grandsons, Zachary Seifert and Caleb Seifert; a brother, John Barrett of Wellsville, NY; a sister, Beatrice Cramer of Wellsville, NY; and nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a daughter, Alice Fay Young in 1954; a son, Lawrence Young in 1987; a brother; and five sisters.

Friends may call Monday, September 26, 2011 from 2:00 – 4:00 and 7:00 – 9:00 PM at the Olney Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Ulysses, PA, where Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 AM. The Rev. Lewis Mericle will officiate. Burial will be in Ulysses Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s Association or the Sweden Valley Manor Activity Fund, Coudersport, PA 16915.
