Meacham Sentenced to 13 – 26 Years

A Potter County man convicted in a nonjury trial of sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl two years ago has been sentenced to state prison for a term of 13 to 26 years. Judge Stephen Minor handed down the sentence against 66-year-old Eugene Meacham last week.

District Attorney Andy Watson had asked the court to impose an even more severe sentence, not only to protect society from the defendant, but to send a message to others. Meacham, who was represented by Potter County Public Defender Brent Petrosky, testified that he was intoxicated at the time of the incidents and adamantly denied having sexual contact with the victim.
