Missing Man’s Brother Shoots Self after Police Standoff in Clearfied Co.

CLEARFIELD CO. – A Clearfield County man is dead following a 7-hour police standoff that began yesterday afternoon.

Police say Shawn Demko died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

A 7-hour standoff with Demko ensued after police attempted to serve a warrant on him for robbery.

Officials say they attempted to coax Demko out of his home, but at 10:10 p.m. a gunshot was heard from inside. By 10:30 p.m. he was being transferred from the home on a stretcher to Clearfield Hospital. He was later taken to Altoona Regional where he was pronounced dead early this morning.

Shawn Demko is brother of Justin Demko, who has been missing for 4 months. A $1,000 reward has been offered by Clearfield County District Attorney William Shaw for information leading to the arrest of Justin Demko.
