The mother of a Lower Allen Township man who died in an unusual fire at a gas station is filing a wrongful-death lawsuit against BP Oil Co. and Toyota Motor Corporation and its affiliates in Philadelphia County, claiming that dangerous conditions and safety violations were responsible for the death of her son. L. David Byers, 19, died on March 5 while he was getting gas at a BP station on Simpson Ferry Road in Lower Allen Twp. Static electricity sparked a fire, and Byers died from inhaling superheated gases from the flash fire, Cumberland County Coroner Todd Eckenrode said.
