Motorcycle Crashes After Hitting Deer Near Genesee
1 min readGENESEE TWP. – A motorcycle operator suffered minor abrasions and his passenger was transported to Jones Memorial Hospital after an accident that occurred on Friday, September 3 at 5:20 pm.
Police say Scott A. Weller, 46, of Oakville, Ontario, was operating a 2010 Harley Davidson Ultra Classic on Route 449 about 1,400 feet south of Reese Hollow Road in Genesee Township when a deer entered the roadway from the east embankment and crossed into the the southbound lane. Weller collided with the deer causing him to lose control of his motorcycle. The motorcycle then fell onto it’s right side and slid several hundred feet down the road until coming to rest along the west shoulder of Route 449. Both Weller and his passenger, Shelley A. Sheppard, 46, of Oakville, Ontario, fell from the motorycle upon impact.
Weller suffered minor abrasions from the accident. Sheppard suffered abrasions to her head, left leg and right knee, and was transported to Jones Memorial Hospital for treatment.
Neither party was wearing a helmet. The motorcycle was towed from the scene by Kightlinger Motors. Genesee Fire and Ambulance assisted Coudersport-based State Police on the scene.
