Murder Conviction Upheld
A recent appeals court ruling has reaffirmed the murder conviction of Frederick Camejo, Jr., who was found guilty of killing Edward Fomby, Jr. on Congress Street in Bradford, Pennsylvania. The conviction, which was initially handed down in September 2024, was upheld by the Pennsylvania Superior Court on December 24, 2025.
The case began on May 29, 2022, when Camejo shot and killed Fomby outside his residence after a verbal altercation. The incident was captured on home surveillance videos and 911 calls, which provided crucial evidence in the case. Witnesses and video footage revealed that Camejo fired his firearm 10 times, hitting Fomby four times in the back as he walked away.
Camejo claimed self-defense, but the jury ultimately found him guilty of Murder in the 3rd Degree, Discharge of a Firearm into an Occupied Structure, and three counts of Recklessly Endangering Another Person. The conviction was the result of a thorough investigation by the City of Bradford Police and the Pennsylvania State Police, as well as a four-day jury trial prosecuted by District Attorney Stephanie Vettenburg-Shaffer.
The appeals court’s decision to uphold the conviction brings closure to the case and reinforces the importance of justice in the community. The ruling also highlights the effectiveness of law enforcement and the judicial system in ensuring that those who commit crimes are held accountable for their actions.
The case serves as a reminder of the devastating consequences of violence and the need for individuals to resolve conflicts peacefully. It also underscores the importance of community cooperation and the role of law enforcement in maintaining public safety.
