National Association for the Advancement of Colored People Says Tea Party is Racist
2 min readWASHINGTON – The NAACP (National Association for the Advancement of Colored People), an organization devoted to promoting a single race, has hypocritically passed a resolution calling Tea Party members racist.
The NAACP, an organization primarily comprised of ‘colored people’, and whose sole purpose is empowerment of an individual race, argues that the majority of Tea Party members are non-Hispanic whites (79%), but fails to mention that such a figure is on-par with a national cross-section of the populace.
Tea Party members around the country lashed out at the NAACP and Ben Jealous, newly elected NAACP President, saying the resolution is ridiculous.
Sarah Palin responded to the accusations by saying she was, “saddened by the NAACP’s claim that patriotic Americans… are somehow racists.”
“It is true that there have been a few instances where individual Tea Party members have made remarks or held signs that minorities felt were offensive, just as individuals from both the Democratic and Republican parties have in the past, but such individuals are not representative of the Tea Party as a whole. Organizations such as the NAACP are trying to use that ‘one rotten apple’ to spoil the entire organization, merely for political gain”, said one Tea Party member.
Some Conservatives believe there is a systematic attempt at demonizing the Tea Party, and that such racist rhetoric is nothing more than attacks from both the left and right to discredit the grass-roots organization.
The Tea Party has come under fire from both sides of the Democratic/Republican isle, but one thing remains certain; the Tea Party is gaining momentum and members each day, despite the barrage of media and minority group backed attacks.
